Garcinia Cambogia and Weight Loss

Garcinia Cambogia is the 'miracle' weight loss product that the celebrities are shredding tons of pounds with.  Literally, dropping tons of unwanted body fat in minimal amounts of time.  It has been featured on the Dr. Oz show and is derived from a fruit.

Yesterday I talked about how I prefer losing weight naturally.  Meaning, on one's own by using nutrition and/or exercise.  It most certainly is possible to lose weight by just customizing a person's diet (diet means daily eating habits not a temporary change in eating style).  However, exercise is heart healthy, strengthens bones -which is great to help prevent osteoporosis-, and sculpts the body so it is a great idea to incorporate physical activity when and where possible.

I do not typically suggest taking pills to aid in weight loss.  I do not like synthesized products or appetite suppressants such as caffeine or other artificial ingredients.  If this is something you have used in the past, that is OK- it is just not my preference.  I know there are many people who would rather pop a pill and call it a day.  This may be for a variety of reasons such as convenience, speeding up the process or to enhance the results of their hard work and dedication.

If you are one of those people who prefer taking a pill then you may want to check out Garcinia Cambogia.  It is a fruit that grows in Asia and India that looks like a mini pumpkin in the color green and can vary to a yellow.  The active ingredient is in the skin and is called Hydroxycitric Acid (HCA).  There are many sources that say there is no proof that it promotes weight loss while many others say, yes, it promotes and enhances weight loss.

I have used it and I will say, yes, it certainly drives results.  I tried it for a couple reasons.  I am frequently asked about weight loss products, vitamins, supplements and a variety of other nutritional questions.  People do not always want to hear "weight loss should be natural".  For those who want to take a pill, they want to know what pill to take.  So the first reason is that I want to be able to suggest something for them and I want to know about the product as well as have tried it myself.

If you are like me, and prefer not to take pills you may even want to try it!  I did lots of research and found a few great natural products with this one being at the top of the list from what I found.  I bought some and decided to try it.  This leads me to the second reason.  I struggle with my own weight.  It is a battle that is ongoing and some days are easier than others.  About 1.5 years ago I was getting my sleeve done and was unable to work out during the process which took about 3 weeks or so.  This was due to the numerous sessions required for completion and healing time.  In yesterday's blog I talked about how we need to reduce the amount of food we eat if we are used to working out and are not doing it for a period of time.  I also talked about how it is really tough for me to do that since I love food so much.

This was the perfect time to try Garcinia Cambogia and it worked!  I was not working out, eating about the same and lost weight!  I took it 30 minutes prior to lunch and dinner and I noticed that I would get full faster and I would feel satisfied.  I don't know about everyone else but sometimes I can eat and still not feel satisfied - which leads to over eating.  The same can be said about something really good.  It can be soooo good that I want more - again leading to over eating.  This did not happen at all.  Matter of fact, it promotes the release of serotonin, the "happy" chemical.  So it could even aid in preventing emotional eating.  Not to mention the other happy side effects produced by this chemical.  The great news is that I did not feel jittery, it did not interfere with my sleep AND it is derived from a plant.  I LOVE plant-based products!

An amazing fact is that it actually works as a fat burner!  Here is a short clip from Dr. Oz's website that gives the scientific explanation of how it works.  Remember, Dr. Oz does not endorse any products so this clip is just to explain in more depth the science behind it.  Dr. Oz recommends that when Garcinia Gambogia is purchased that guidelines should be followed for maximum benefits.  He recommends using a product with at least 50% HCA and potassium and calcium.  Again, this is not for endorsement purposes but for educational purposes so that people can make informed decisions.

If you are going to take a pill anyway, check it out- it's natural!

  1. I'm totally natural....I want to do this in a method that is sustaining for the rest of my life......and taking a pill is not something I want! That said...to each their own! :-)

    1. Mary Fran, I am totally with you - I like natural!

  2. I think that I've just experienced a complete turn-around on my opinion of Garcinia Cambogia.

I've always ignored all the references to it before. I've gotten a lot of emails about it in my spam folder before, so I've always thought that it's probably a croc. Yes, they've all said that Dr. Oz recommends it, but I've never actually gone to Dr. Oz's website before now.

But after reading your account of the benefits of Garcinia Cambogia, I think I will give it a try. I don't like taking pills or any drug either, but it sounds about the same as taking Spirulina or Super Blue Green Algae, which are just natural substances found in water that are drained and put into clear capsules. And I take Melatonin once in awhile, another substance produced naturally in the body. So I think I can try this Garcinia Cambogia.

I've already read your About page and some other posts, and I'm really impressed with your sincerity. First of all, I am totally appreciative of the wealth of information you have to offer and the struggle you went through to discover exactly WHAT you are supposed to be doing on this earth! Bravo to you for taking the time to figure it out.

But I appreciate even more your willingness to share your own personal struggle with weight loss, your own rationale for even trying this pill, and your own personal results with it. To tell you the truth, if I read some guru saying, "Do it this way - I've never had your problem, but do it this way anyway," I tend to doubt whether or not that person can actually help me. But in your case, I can see that you know what I'm going through! :)

Thanks again. Do you have an affiliate link with Amazon? If I do go ahead and buy it, I would like you to get credit as so many have tried and failed to get me to buy it in the past!

And yes, I can see that your blog is more about overall health than simply selling one product. So thanks. Nobody's ever explained it this way before.

    1. Andrea, thanks for stopping by. Yes, there was definitely a reason behind this post. The main one is that most want the 'magic' pill while others - like myself, you and MaryFran listed above- prefer to be more natural.

I am not always perfect and I do not think life is about perfection anyway so I try to do the best I can with what challenges and curve balls come.

You should be able to click on the image of the Garcinia Cambogia and it will lead you straight into Amazon. It is tracked that you came through my site so they will know I was the referring source. :)
